Research Focus

We are interested in understanding how the behavior of adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs), a major stromal cell type in breast cancer, changes in response to different physicochemical cues created by tumor cells, and how these changes guide tumor growth and metastasis. Specifically, I am combining 3-dimensional tissue culture and microfluidics to better understand the behavior of ASCs in response to spatiotemporal variations of tumor-inherent soluble molecules. Gaining a better understanding of tumor-stroma interaction in well-defined presence of microenvironmental factors will help towards developing a tumor model.

Prior to joining the Fischbach lab, I received a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering with Additional Major in Biomedical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in May 2010. I am currently pursuing my Ph.D in Biomedical Engineering at Cornell University.
